L & D Mail Masters Values Going Green

April 26, 2018

In the modern world, businesses are tasked with the responsibility of taking some sort of social stance. According to Reputation Institution, “People’s willingness to buy, recommend, work for, and invest in a company is driven 60% by their perceptions of the company, and only 40% by their perceptions of the products.” Perceptions are easily affected by corporate social responsibility programs or CSRs. A couple of examples of major corporations’ CSRs are as follows:

  1. Starbucks – Focuses on the brewing of “green” coffee.
  2. Kenneth Cole – AIDS awareness; created “Awareness Products” which allows all proceeds from these specific products to go towards AIDS awareness and other meaningful social issues.
  3. Toms Shoes – Buy a shoe, donate a shoe. Toms shoes donates one pair of shoes to a child in need every time someone buys their shoes. It allows the consumer to feel as though they are directly impacting the world, as well.

Why are we briefing you on what others are doing? Well, because L & D Mail Masters does it too. What would one of the major elements of a corporate social responsibility program would a direct mail marketing firm adopt be? Well, recycling, of course! According to Intelex, recycled paper requires 64% less energy than making paper from virgin wood pulp. L & D Mail Masters hires a company to do just that, reuse trashed paper. Louisville company, WestRock, is one of the largest integrated recyclers in the country. They help customers like us reduce our impact on the environment.

In 2017, L & D Mail Masters has recycled 53.11 tons of office paper. Get this-according to a University of Southern Indiana study, each ton of paper can save 17 trees. That’s 901 trees that L & D Mail Masters helped save just last year! We have been recycling to this extent for three years now. It’s our responsibility to help our clients communicate their message most effectively in a sustainable way. Which is why not only do we execute print and direct mail campaigns, but we also specialize in electronic communication where appropriate.

Since it’s April—Earth Month—we challenge you to grab a recycling bin and be contentious of everything that goes into your trashcan! Together we can make a difference.
