By this time we’ve pretty much all committed to the “New Year, New Us” motto! Whether it’s dedication to a new workout regime, a new diet or saving more money, we use January 1st as a fresh start to reform some of our bad habits. It is motivating and exciting! What is not exciting is when we see the statistic that only 20% of New Year’s Resolutions make it past February. While we sort out our 2018 personal goals and work on increasing that statistic this year, let’s focus on some professional resolutions, as well. How will you accelerate your company to the next level this year? We’re offering a few business resolutions to help with those efforts:
Dedicate time to find out what your customers think! Getting feedback from customers is a great way to improve your service. You can only fix what you know is broken, dedicate some time in the beginning of this year to discover those missing elements.
Get active in your community. Not sure you’re living your purpose? Don’t feel like you’ve made the proper connections in the community? Get involved. It also increases employee retention; according to Cone Research, 79% of people prefer to work for a socially responsible company and 79% of employees think it’s important that their companies match their charitable giving.
Delegate more. We know, we know. This is difficult for many owners and managers. However, the more you delegate, the easier it is for you to refocus your efforts. Employees will also feel more accomplished as they are being cross-trained and valued.
Make every meeting count. While meetings are necessary, some meetings are time-consuming and unproductive. Make a point this year to head into every single meeting with a typed out agenda. No matter how small or big the meeting, an agenda will keep everyone on track and allow for more productivity throughout the day.
Remember, people who write down their goals have an 80% higher success rate at achieving them. Get your pen and paper handy and begin 2018 on the right foot, both personally and professionally!
