Diane Fischer: Diane Fischer is founder and President of L & D Mail Masters, Inc. located in New Albany, Indiana. After spending 9 ½ years as a Customer Service Manager at a local company, Diane saw a significant need for a direct marketing company that was willing to help small and large clients alike. In 1986, Fischer and her partner set out to change the local Direct Mail vendor scene by starting L & D Mail Masters, Inc. The beginning was modest. A spare bedroom in Diane’s home, the family minivan, folding machine, computer, postage meter and entrepreneurial spirits fueled L & D’s growth the first few months. After mornings filled with sales pitches in business suits and high heels, the women traded the heels for sneakers to complete the jobs and unload at the post office dock in the afternoon. In 1990, Fischer acquired her partner’s share of L & D Mail Masters. The present day company is a thriving 180,000 square foot campus with 150 employees.
Diane has also always seen a need for involvement in community success as well as professional success. She has served on many non-profit boards including One Southern Indiana and New Albany-Floyd County School Foundation, as well as, serving on numerous committees for other organizations. Her philosophy of assisting others to ensure growth and success has served her well personally and professionally throughout her years as a business leader in the community.
Residing in Greenville, Indiana with her husband, Steven, Diane enjoys spending time with her family, lounging by her pool and looking forward to many good things yet to come. Back to Top
Kim Schmidt: I attended Indiana University Southeast, studying in the Business Administration/Management program. I have worked as a Customer Service Representative for over 16 years with half of that time being dedicated to L & D Mail Masters.
My job is very rewarding. I really enjoy working directly with my clients to make sure they get the utmost attention and need out of their direct mail project. Each one of my customers is treated with the respect and individuality that they deserve. I make sure they get the most bang for their buck. Back to Top
Barbara Fischer: I graduated from Floyd Central High School in Floyds Knobs, IN. Realizing that I was not ready to attend college I joined the work force by working in a supermarket in Galena IN. I worked at this job for 7 years before I realized in order to gain a better living I had to go to college. I attended Sullivan Business College in Louisville, KY studying for a data processing degree.
After attending college, I went to work for The Louisville Bar Association as secretary for the Foundation for three years. I then worked for the Galt House Hotels as a catering secretary for 4 ½ years.
In August 1993, I came to work for L & D Mail Masters, Inc. working in both the data processing office and as a receptionist. After about 9 months a position as an account executive became available and this continues to be my position today.
What I like about working in a sales position is that every customer’s needs are different. What will work for one customer is not going to be the same for the next customer. In the 15 years I have been at L & D Mail Masters, the growth and the changes have been enormous. With the technology changing the way we work with our customers in fulfilling their needs is one of the better aspects of my day. I continue to learn about technology, mailing processes and postal requirements in order to better serve our customers needs. Back to Top
Jolanda Worrall: I have worked in the mailing industry for 33 years. My first 23 years were spent at Norton Healthcare in Louisville KY working with the direct mail fundraising program for Kosair Children’s Hospital. I began my mail career processing the mail and then became the manager of The Foundation Office during the last five years of my tenure there.
My years with Norton Healthcare gave me an extensive background in nonprofit direct mail fundraising and prepared me for my next career move.
After leaving Norton Healthcare I had the opportunity to join L & D Mail Masters as an Account Executive.
My time here has taught me even more about the direct mail industry as well as printing and graphic design. The most enjoyable part of my job at L & D Mail Masters is working with the customers. They always ask for something exciting and different each day which makes my job challenging. Often I can show a customer how they can save enough money on postage which can offset or even pay for the mail processing cost. Back to Top
Marilyn Nash: I am a native of New Albany, IN and a graduate of New Albany High School. Going back as far as my early teens, I worked in the service industry which gave me a broad and constant exposure to people. Before I came to L & D Mail Masters, I worked for the New Albany Floyd County School System for 8 years helping disadvantaged youth overcome employment and academic issues. From this experience I honed my communication and networking skills.
In 2004 I earned a Real Estate Sales License, which I continue to hold. As I look back on my past experiences, I see a natural progression towards a career in sales. Being on the sales team at L & D allows me to channel my past experiences into building new relationships, now and in the future. Back to Top
Andrew Ridge: Born and raised in Southern Indiana. After high school I attended IUS and graduated in 2002 with a B.S. in Marketing with a minor in International Business. I have been with L & D Mail Masters for three years, two and half of which had been as a second shift supervisor. My experience on the floor has helped me in the sales department by knowing the equipment and processes in production.
In the past I have worked as an account executive for other companies and the most important thing to me that I bring here is simply to treat customers the way I want to be treated. I have been given a great opportunity here and believe that hard work and persistence pays off. Back to Top
Abigail Sullivan: I have lived in New Albany my whole life. I attended New Albany High School where I graduated with honors. I went on to attend Indiana University Southeast and graduated from their business school with a Bachelor’s in Marketing and Management. While attending school I worked assistant management positions at numerous retail companies.
Shortly after graduation I heard about the sales position here at L & D and jumped right on it. Working in sales has allowed me to use my people skills and my creative mind. I love working at L & D Mail Masters; it is such a creative company and that gives me the opportunity to expand and develop my marketing abilities. Back to Top
Claudia Brown: Originally from Michigan, I’ve spent the last 26 years in Southern Indiana. Before coming to L & D, I worked 23 years for a major automotive parts manufacturer as a business professional. I successfully progressed through the company, holding positions in Purchasing, Information Technology and Finance. My last assignment was as a Customer Service Representative, which I held for ten years.
I came to L & D in 2009, starting in the Data Department, and now with the Sales Team. I am learning something new everyday about the direct mail industry. It’s very exciting to be working for a company that stays on the cutting edge, continually growing and changing to meet the needs of our clients. Back to Top
